Product Details
This 10A 48V smart automatic multi-stage mains battery charger is designed to enable safe and efficient unattended charging of a 48V battery or battery bank from a mains power source (220-240V AC). With its automatic 4-stage charging algorithm, this charger ensures swift and efficient charging.
The unit is designed to charge either a single 48V battery, or several 48V batteries connected in parallel (batteries must be the same type, capacity and age).
The charger is compatible with a wide range of battery types including Lead Acid, AGM, GEL, Lithium-Ion, and LiFePO4 via defined charging programmes using easily accessible DIP switches.
Key Features:
-
Safe unattended charging: the unit features inbuilt safety functions (protection against DC short circuit, overheating, and overcharging), which allow the charger to be left permanently connected to the battery for unattended automatic charging. Unlike many other mains chargers, the charging voltage is also free from peaks which offers smooth uninterrupted charging.
-
Continued charging during battery use: the charger will continue to operate while energy is drawn from the battery during use. The unit will maintain the charge if the battery is already at full capacity.
-
Boost-charging feature: this preliminary charging stage can improve battery condition and recover lost capacity from older batteries. It improves the charge delivered to the batteries, thereby increasing battery life and preventing premature battery failure.
-
Dead battery recovery: The low current mode enables recovery of deeply discharged batteries and restores lost capacity in aging batteries, extending their lifespan.
-
Automatic temperature control: to maintain an optimal internal temperature, the inbuilt fan is automatically enabled when a high temperature or charging current is detected.
-
Night mode: The built-in 'night mode' can be enabled to reduce fan speed, enabling quieter charging operations while running at a reduced current.
-
Adjustable power pack function: able to provide a direct supply of power to a 12V load (e.g. 12V fridge) with no battery connected (e.g. during battery replacement). Further control is available for custom DC loads as the stable output voltage can be user-defined from 12V to 13.8V through the mobile App accessible via a Bluetooth module (sold separately).
-
Multiple status LEDs: 4 LED lights on the front panel indicate the current charging state (no charging, bulk, absorption, float), the charging mode (normal, night, low current, DC power supply), battery status (full) and technical faults (11 unique patterns to aid troubleshooting).
-
Advanced temperature protection and compensation: When paired with an optional external temperature sensor (sold separately), the charger provides advanced temperature protection for all batteries. Lithium batteries automatically cease charging at temperatures of 0°C or lower to prevent battery damage. Lead Acid batteries will be charged at varying voltages to compensate for voltage loss during temperature changes.
This charger is supplied with a 1.5m mains AC cable with a UK 3-pin plug.
